London Cafe Series: The Dayrooms Cafe, Notting Hill

Situated in one of my favourite areas of London is a new addition to my London Cafe Series. With two benches outside this would make the ideal summer spot, or save the wait if you come prepared in layers for now! Naturally we waited to be seated in the cosy interior and believe me it was worth it.

If anyone else sings this number we are on the same wave length already; the Dayrooms Cafe located at number 212 Kensington Park Road and is an easy walk from the station. It's a convenient stop if you are in the area, open all seven days of the week from 8am to 5pm. Whether you are looking for a coffee to go, variety of bakes or sit down brunch, this place has it all. If Notting Hill isn't close by they also have another branch in Holborn, which has it's very own specials.

This one is not like any I have recommend before, all though this small venue is still pleasing to the eye it has the Australian coastline at heart. This inspired menu changes on a seasonal basis and I confirm the autumn/winter offering isn't short on flavour. With a clear direction for their business, it is a pleasant and welcoming environment who knows exactly what they stand for and who they are. With earthy tones in the pale green decor, wooden tables and chairs, and whicker lampshades the setting is the perfect backdrop to start your Sunday.
Whilst we waited we ordered a Mocha and herbal tea and it wasn't long until we seated at a table to dine. Browsing the menu I was instantly drawn to the idea of the Breakfast Bowl. This dish includes courgette fritters, massaged and crispy kale, roasted squash, pickled beetroot, shredded carrots, avocado, labne, pesto. If that wasn't enough there was also the option to add poached eggs. The Kale was honestly the best I have ever tasted it, plus it gave me an energy/vitamin boost I was in desperate need of. Hoping it will help me beat all the winter bugs that are currently circulating!

My sister opted for her usual smashed avocado, but it was far from basic served with pickled beets, crispy kale, chilli, sorrel, labne, poached eggs, toasted pumpkin seeds and toasted focaccia. We both agreed how tasty the food was and continuously commented on how filled we were right up until dinner. They also had a selection of fabulous looking cakes and alternative bakes, which we very much debated getting one to take away. Overall, this is undoubtably a place I would recommend if you are in the market for a new brunch spot.
The dayrooms, I'll be back...
